The Solution: Pooled Part Data

NEW Patented Universal Digital Photo Capture, Digital Video Capture and Digital Sound Capture For Universal Documentation of Aircraft Parts Testing, Repair, Overhaul, Tracking and Compliance

Patented QCcapture creates a universal global integrated documentation system to improve the Quality and Control of part condition documentation of aircraft parts that are easy to use, lowers costs, improved traceability, and part value. IT can improve current photo capture and add video, and voice recording to the trace documentation process.

Cell phones, tablets, and PDA's are mobile scanners/copiers. Improvements in the pixel and DPI and the addition of 4K and coming 8K ensures the photos, videos and mobile copies of documents will get better with each year's new model.

Today if a photo is taken of a part for any reason, the device often used is a digital camera, digital cell phone, or PDA with a camera. Pictures from these devices vary by pixel, format, and file size. The file names are randomly assigned by the device which could result in two pictures having the same file name from two different capture devices. Further, these picture files are no way related to the work order or repair process.

Today images relating has to be done manually by an administrator or service technician if they do it at all by manually changing the file name to something related to the file and part. The invention automates and creates a standardization for using a photo, video, and digital voice recording to document the pre-repair condition of a part, the condition of the part after it is repaired and shipped and the condition received.

It also can show the condition if the part is unrepairable and/or and shipped back to the owner. This methodology enables documentation of the physical proof of the condition of the part in the repair process and any attached accessories between all the parties that handle the part and provides new trace and part condition capabilities and accountability currently not available in this area and the industry today.

The patent will create the standardization and compliance of the application worldwide and presents an architecture for partners.

Universal standardized filing, tracking with authentication and security will give the aviation industry the ability to share the information tracing back to the part number and a serial number of the part in one cloud-based solution.

The invention automates the picture capture and naming process using methods to enter data before the picture is taken and then subsequent pictures and name them accordingly. The invention also embeds routing data and universal identification information and universal tracking information related to the part being captured for new levels of tracking and part condition accountability in the part out and repair process in the aviation industry.

As stated above, when aircraft are parted out or a part fails on a current flying aircraft it will need repair. Today airlines, MRO's and owner-operators have several choices to replace a failed part. The documentation process today is a paper trace document that is filled out by the service technician or keyed into an electronic device. The document contains the part number and/or parts Serial Number.

To date, there is no digital photographic, video, or digital voice capabilities at the field office or parts depot. If a photo is taken, the device is a digital camera, digital cell phone, or PDA with a camera. The file names of the pictures are no way related to the work order or repair process. Today image relating has to be done manually by the service technician if they do it at all. The invention claimed here solves this problem and others such as condition liability.

The present invention enables digital photo, digital video, and digital voice recording to be related to the part being serviced using universal tracking and file cross-referencing methodologies that prompt the technician to take one or several pictures in a pre-configured selected order and have those files names in relation to the part and its repair process from off wing to repair shop to the warehouse to back on the wing and the methodology can allow for lifetime trace document to be extended to digital photo digital video and digital voice recording files and records related to the parts Back To Birth (BTB) history.

The claimed invention differs from what currently exists. Using a predefined image and voice capture capability provides protection and accountability to all the parties involved in a removal, shipping and parts repair process. It also provides additional inspection and compliance abilities for federal documentation standards and practices in the aviation industry. The application cross-referencing can be applied to FAA and other databases matching AWD (Air Worthiness Directives) and AD and other compliance documents on the part to be repaired or overhauled such as OEM recalls and part notifications.

Why Support this Program?

  • To date, there is no universal digital photographic, video, or digital voice capabilities at the field office or parts depot of airlines and MRO's.
